안녕하세요. 눈사람호텔리뷰입니다.
예전 포스팅한 제주도 한달살기에 이어 이번엔 '미국에서 보름살기' 도전합니다.
보스턴에서 아이랑 장기투숙했을 때 이용했던 '레지던스 인 바이 메리어트 월섬' 경험을 기록하려고 해요. 

(숙소가 이름 한번 참 깁니다. ㅎㅎ)

Hello, this is Snowman Hotel Review. Following my previous post about living in Jeju for a month, I am now embarking on a new challenge: living in the U.S. for half a month. I plan to document my experience with the 'Residence Inn by Marriott Waltham,' where I stayed long-term with my child in Boston.

(The name of the accommodation is quite long, isn't it? Haha)

 

메리어트 레지던스 월섬을 검색해보니 3성급이라고 되어 있고... inn이라 그래서 호텔보다 시설 안 좋을까 살짝 걱정했었는데 막상 실제로 와보니 예상보다 훨씬 좋아요!!!
우선 로비가 앉을곳도 많고 엄청 넓어요. 처음 오자마자 로비가 좋길래 오... 생각보다 좋은데?! 라고 생각이 들었어요.
특히 로비에 벽난로가 있어서 불멍할 수 있습니다. 
장기투숙해보니까 벽난로가 켜 있는날도 있고 안 켜진 날도 있었어요.

When I searched for the Marriott Residence Waltham, it was listed as a 3-star hotel, and since it’s an 'Inn,' I was a bit worried that the facilities might not be as good as a regular hotel. However, upon arriving, it was much better than I expected!

First of all, the lobby is very spacious with plenty of seating. As soon as I arrived and saw the lobby, I thought, 'Wow, this is better than I expected!' There’s also a fireplace in the lobby where you can enjoy a cozy fire. During my long-term stay, there were days when the fireplace was on and days when it wasn’t.

 

이곳 인테리어가 전체적으로 그레이톤에 철제 작품을 사용했어요.

숙소 곳곳에 철제로 된 장식품들을 많이 볼 수 있었습니다. 

철제장식을 활용한 인테리어 스타일을 '인더스트리얼 스타일' 이라고 부른다고 합니다. 

원래 공장이나 창고에서 사용되던 재로를 현대적인 공간에 적용한 디자인이라고 하네요. 

The interior here is predominantly in gray tones with metal artwork.

Throughout the accommodation, you can see many decorative metal pieces.

The interior style that uses metal decorations is called 'Industrial Style.' It’s a design that originally used materials from factories or warehouses and applies them to modern spaces.

 

 

엘리베이터는 룸키를 찍어야 이용 가능했어요.
건물 위로 아무나 올라갈 수 있는 숙소보다 이런건 좋은 것 같습니다.
총 5층까지 있어서 층수가 높지는 않았지만, 건물 자체가 넓어서 방이 엄청 많습니다.

The elevator required room key access to use. I think this is a good feature compared to accommodations where anyone can access any floor. The building has a total of five floors, so it’s not very tall, but the building itself is quite spacious, with many rooms.

 

 

방으로 들아왔어요. 첫인상이 깔끔하고 좋았습니다.

전체적으로 회색톤 인테리어가 세련되었어요.
식탁, 침대, 쇼파, 티비, 옷장이 있어요.
거실이 따로 있는 보스턴 하얏트 하우스와는 달리  하나의 방 구조로 되어 있어요.
가족단위로 보스턴에서 장기투숙 할거면, 거실있는 하얏트 하우스가 훨씬 넓고 좋을 것 같애요.

I just entered the room. The first impression was clean and pleasant.

Overall, the gray-toned interior was stylish and modern.

It has a dining table, bed, sofa and TV. Unlike the Boston Hyatt House, which has a separate living room, this is a single-room layout. If you're staying in Boston for an extended period with your family, the Hyatt House with a living room would be much more spacious and comfortable.

 

 

창밖은 도속도로 뷰입니다.
하루종일 쌩쌩 달리는 자동차 소음이 꽤 있어요;;;
처음엔 거슬렸는데ㅜㅜ (특히 밤에 잘 때 힘들었음 ) 지내다보니 금새 적응했어요..
고속도로 옆 방은 비추입니다.

The view outside the window is of the highway. There's quite a bit of noise from the cars speeding by all day long. At first, it was bothersome (especially difficult to sleep at night), but I quickly got used to it as time went on. However, I wouldn't recommend a room next to the highway.

 

 

미니주방이지만 냉장고, 식기세척기, 전자레인지, 커피머신이 있어서 알찹니다.

서랍장 열면 냄비, 식기류 등등 왠만한 필요한 것이 다 있는 레지던스에요.
보스턴에는 이렇게 레지던스 호텔들이 많아요.
보스턴에 레지던스 인 메리어트는 여러지점이 있는데, 제가 투숙했던 곳은 '월섬'입니다. 

 

 

보스턴에 레지던스형 숙소가 많은 이유?!!

주로 장기 숙박에 대한 수요가 높아서이기 때문이래요.

아마 대학과 교육기관이 있어 유학오는 장기투숙객들이 많아서 그런것 같애요. 그리고 보스턴은 매사추세츠 종합병원과 보스턴 어린이 병원이 있는 의료 중심지이기 때문에, 의료 관광 수요가 많다고 합니다. 이러한 이유들로 단기 호텔보다는 긴 체류를 위한 편의시설을 갖춘 레지던스 호텔들이 보스턴에서 많이 자리 잡게 되었다고 하네요. 

Though it's a mini kitchen, it's well-equipped with a refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, and coffee machine. When you open the drawers, you'll find all the essentials like pots, pans, and dishes—it's a fully stocked residence.

Boston has many of these types of residence hotels. There are several Residence Inn by Marriott locations in Boston, and the one I stayed at was in Waltham. The abundance of residence-style accommodations in Boston is likely due to the many long-term visitors, such as students studying abroad.

It’s likely because there are many long-term visitors, such as international students, due to the presence of universities and educational institutions. Additionally, Boston is a medical hub with Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital, leading to a high demand for medical tourism. For these reasons, residence hotels with amenities designed for extended stays have become more prevalent in Boston compared to short-term hotels.

 

화장실은 욕조는 없지만 샤워실이 넓어서 좋았습니다.
호텔 어메니티는 샴푸, 린스, 바디샤워, 비누가 있구요.  
지내동안 꽉 찬 쓰레기통은 문밖에 내다두면 하우스키핑 직원이 매일 치워줬어요.
그리고 방 청소가 필요하면 전날에 미리 전화해서 예약해야 방을 치워주는 시스템이었습니다. 

The bathroom doesn't have a bathtub, but the shower area is spacious, which I liked. The hotel amenities include shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and soap. During my stay, if the trash can was full, I just left it outside the door, and the housekeeping staff would pick it up daily. Also, if you need your room cleaned, you have to call and schedule it the day before.

 

 

1층에 실내수영장이랑 헬스장이 있다고 해서 구경갔어요. 
헬스장에 있는 운동기구들은 전부 새것같은 컨디션이었어요.

관리 잘 되어 있는 것 같고 너무 좋더라구요.

I heard there was an indoor pool and gym on the first floor, so I went to check them out.

The exercise equipment in the gym looked brand new. It seems well-maintained, and I really liked it.

 

 

헬스장 옆에 수영장이 있는데 크기가 아담했어요.
지금은 일시적으로 운영하지 않는다 그래서 이용하지 못했습니다.
'보스턴 레지던스 인 바이 메리어트 월섬' 의 위치가 시내랑 거리가 꽤 있어요 (차로 20-30분 걸림)
기억으로는 이 호텔 가까운 거리에 큰 식재료 마트랑 스타벅스, 코스트코도 있었어요.

 

Next to the gym, there was a swimming pool, but it was quite small. Unfortunately, it wasn't operating temporarily, so I couldn't use it. The location of the 'Boston Residence Inn by Marriott Waltham' is a bit far from downtown, about a 20-30 minute drive. From what I remember, there were a large grocery store, a Starbucks, and a Costco nearby.
